We all know the first rule for international travel - always double-check to make sure you have your passport.  We have all heard stories of crying spouses and aborted vacations--because someone forget the basics.

I had an embarrassing moment on a recent return trip from the Dominican Republic.  I checked out of my hotel and rode 35 minutes to the airport only to discover that I had a major problem--no passport.  It wasn't lost.  Actually, it was very safe - still in the security box at my hotel room.

It isn't really important whether I made my flight or not.  I did learn an important lesson that day - don't neglect the basics.

What are the implications for my life and ministry?  And yours?  I don't know about you, but I sense we would do well to review Acts 6:4.
