When Jesus met with one ostracized woman at Jacob’s well outside of Sychar, He realized something that many of us miss: the impact of a single life that has been transformed by the power of God. One meeting with Jesus transformed that Samaritan woman’s heart. She went back into her town and boldly declared, “Come, meet a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” Her powerful testimony resulted in supernatural blessings for many.

Sixty-one years ago, someone walked down Luckwell Road in Bristol, England, and put a Voice of Prophecy card under my grandmother’s door. As far as I know, my grandmother never responded to the Gospel, but her son-in-law, my father, picked up the card and sent off for Bible studies. Six years later, my father left his profession as a quantity surveyor and our family moved to Newbold College in the little village of Binfield, England. We lived there for the next four years, while my father studied to become a pastor. Eight years after my father became a full-time pastor and evangelist, I also enrolled at Newbold College. After 38 years of pastoral and teaching ministry, I am impressed again with the story of Jesus at Jacob’s well. Never underestimate the impact of a single life that has been transformed by the power of God.

Someday, when our Lord Jesus returns in glory, I want to thank that transformed witness who put the Bible study card under my grandmother’s door.
